Post 2 - a super hectic day.

Every morning I start my day by taking the handsome gentleman, Gotham, for a walk. He's my 1 year old Bernese Mountain Dog. I love our morning walks so much. I don't count these into my daily calories. I count them as bonus burned calories.  Its about a 20-30min walk around our neighborhood which has some pretty decent hills. I also don't use a pedometer to monitor my steps, again, bonus calories. Sorry the picture is blurry, he was having fun.

Next, I go home and have breakfast before I shower and get dressed for work.  Today is a gym day so it's bigger meals.  Again, same old breakfast. 1/2 a grapefruit with 1 tsp. of splenda/sugar blend, 1 piece of 100% whole grain toast with 1/2 Tbsp of cookie butter and 1/2 Tbsp of almond butter. I really enjoy eating it so it isn't boring for me. Some mornings I will have tea or coffee but the last few days, I've just had water.

Today for lunch I had a black bean burger on a whole wheat bun with 3/4 of an ounce of cheddar cheese and some homemade cilantro may (just a tsp.) and lettuce.  I had a sliced apple on the side and one serving of Chili Cheese Wheat Thins.  I really reccomend getting a food scale, by the way, if you're watching what you eat. You'll be amazed at what an ounce of meat or cheese is.

After lunch I had a serious sweet tooth so I had one of these. Seriously, these dark chocolate dove promises cure most of my dessert cravings. They are 42 calories each, however it is a lot better than having a cookie or something.  I usually just let them melt in my mouth.

Also, after lunch, if I didn't have coffee that morning, I sometimes have it as a pick me up in the afternoon. Today I had some coffee with 1tsp of the splenda/sugar blend along with a Tbsp of fat free half and half. I prefer that to skim milk or creamer or regular milk in my coffee.

Since it is another gym day, I had my afternoon snack. Today we were going on a Pirate cruise with some people from work so I took a Kashi oatmeal and dark chocolate chip cookie with me.

We had a really late night at the gym after the work social. I walked about 30 minutes around Baltimore - not counted into my calories so we did a quick warm up because I did not want to be at the gym all night.  Here is the burn for today. This is not a typical work out, however getting in 778 calories in an hour is pretty good.

When we got home I made dinner in such a rush and then ate without taking a picture. I'm a jerk.  For dinner I made Denver omelets. Mine was one egg with two egg whites, cooked green pepper and onion, ham, and 1oz shredded cheddar cheese. I had a piece of 100% whole grain toast on the side with a tsp of canola oil butter spread and a tsp of honey drizzled on it for a "sweet treat."
Here is the picture from a magazine that gave me the simple idea of doing omelets for dinner. Omelets are great for dinner because you can make them as healthy as you want and you can do just egg whites, an egg and egg whites, etc. and they are relatively in expensive.  This will probably be a weekly dinner this summer.

I like how my first two posts are the most non-typical days ever but that is how life goes most of the time. You have to adjust your routines.Tomorrow is a gym day and Saturday will be a rest day. We might be going out to dinner tomorrow or Sunday to celebrate the first week of Steve's class, so of course, another non-typical dinner. I feel like I've given like NO recipes. If you stick with me, I promise you'll get some good ones!
